Scope of Work

The Senior Manager, Security & Risk is a London-based senior management position within our Operations team, reporting to the Vice President, Operations. The Senior Manager, Security & Risk is responsible for the provision of Duty of Care and Risk Management direction for the UK Office, and support to project delivery and business development functions in accordance with company policies. The Senior Manager, Security & Risk will provide specialist advice during UK proposal writing and project design to ensure effective risk management and context-appropriate delivery plans, as well as security and risk resource requirements are incorporated into UK Integrity projects.

The Senior Manager, Security & Risk oversees and has a technical management line to project-level Security Focal Points where applicable. The Senior Manager, Security & Risk will also assist the Vice President, Operations to refine existing systems and processes, as well as design and operationalise new ones to ensure Integrity remains a sector leader in Risk Management and operating in complex environments.

Terms of Reference

A. Safety and Security Management (40%)

  • Support the development of a Global Travel Management System, representing the UK company’s needs.
  • Oversee the UK company’s global project and business travel, ensuring compliance, and coordinating provision of bespoke security advice to staff and consultants traveling overseas, with specific focus on new geographies or geographies where there is no in-country presence. Ensure all contracted and deployed personnel understand company Duty of Care-related measures, insurance, and emergency procedures.
  • Work closely with UK project managers and other internal stakeholders to develop and implement sufficient mitigations for travel to higher risk locations. Ensure contingency plans are in place and suitably resourced for projects and company infrastructure.
  • Support the management of UK project portfolio’s safety and security risk by coordinating the monitoring of operational geographies, analysis of risk and designing, implementing and maintaining of project security procedures and systems.
  • Build and maintain relationships with specialist third party security providers and coordinate contracting when additional support is required.
  • Manage the UK company’s pre-deployment briefing and training requirements through the delivery of briefings and basic training, and through the management of third-party delivered training such as HEAT and first aid training etc.
  • Develop and deliver internal training packages in areas such as risk management, safeguarding, whistleblowing, incident response, travel security and information security.
  • Support projects with live incident management and response. Lead the delivery of after action reviews following safety and security incidents.
  • Oversee the implementation of Integrity’s Information Security approaches in the UK, in partnership with the Head of Data and Knowledge Management.
  • Be prepared to deploy at short notice to support in country teams with incident or crisis management support, as required. Liaise with Personal Accident & Travel insurers on country and policy coverage requirements.
  • Cover for and provide peer-to-peer support to the US-based Senior Manager, Security & Risk, as required.

B. Risk Management (20%)

  • Support the development of a global risk management processes and practices, including specific inputs around duty of care risk exposure.
  • Support Business Continuity planning, implementation and reviews.

C. Operations Support (10%)

  • Cover for and support the Manager, Operations as required, particularly in areas such as vetting management, safeguarding, and office management.

D. Business Development Support (20%)

  • Support the Business Development team with specialist safety, security, resourcing and broader operational advice in pursuit of opportunities in higher risk and/ or complex environments.
  • Lead on risk management and duty of care for UK proposal narratives.
  • Support the development of UK proposal risk registers, specifically including the design and documentation of duty of care risks and mitigations.

E. Human Resource Management (10%)

  • Deliver the Security and Risk Management induction for all new UK employees, and others as required.
  • Support the recruitment and oversee the work of project Security Focal Points in consultation with Team Leaders and Project Management Units.

Your Experience and Expertise

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years Security and/or Risk Management and/or Operational Planning with logistics experience, particularly in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
  • Operational experience of Risk and Crisis Management, travel management, information security, and operating in fragile environments.
  • A proven ability to support a broad portfolio of work, and business development activity.
  • Experience developing and improving internal processes and systems.

It is desirable you will have:

  • Higher level qualification in Risk Management, International Relations, International Development or other relevant field.
  • Experience within the international development or humanitarian sectors, and an understanding of programme delivery and business development functions.
  • Experience of contributing to the roll out of internal training courses, programmes, and/contributing to company training strategies.
  • Project Management experience.

Languages

  • Written and oral fluency in English, with the ability to write clear and compelling narrative.
  • Other relevant and desirable languages are Arabic and French.
