Job Description
Digital communication internship in Education, UNESCO, Geneva, Switzerland. Fluent in English.
OVERVIEW
The incumbent, under the overall authority of the Director of IBE and the direct supervision of Jack O’Sullivan, Consultant in Digital Content and Communication, will participate in and assist to:
- Develop digital content for social media (Twitter, Facebook), website, blogs, emails and newsletters.
- Extract academic information from reports, publications and blogs to create infographics, banners, flyers etc.
- Write case-studies/impact stories and associated photography.
- Train IBE team members on missions to develop communications using social media, live feeds/webinars, photography, videography and case-studies.
- Monitor trends in education and digital communications.
- Document good practices; write user guides and monthly digital analytics reports.
- Grow IBE-UNESCO’s Global Curriculum Network using digital tools.
- Carry out other communications tasks as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The prospective intern should be able to demonstrate to following qualifications:
Education
Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate of, a graduate (or undergraduate) degree of the following disciplines: Communication, Journalism, Education, Social Sciences, International Development.
Skills/Competencies
- An excellent knowledge and understanding of digital best practices.
- Skills in developing infographics: solid skills in Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat or Illustrator, as well as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written; capacity to communicate in different formats and distill complex information in a clear and concise way.
- Capacity to work effectively in teams and in a multicultural working environment.
- Advanced knowledge in the field of international education, curriculum and development would be an asset
- Excellent time management.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English, and a good working knowledge of either French or Spanish.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Skills in additional communications tools such as WordPress, Drupal, Google Docs and webinars.
- Experience in online community management would be an asset.
- Experience in development, education, an international organization or an NGO environment is desirable.

Please note that this internship is unpaid. The intern is responsible for all expenses related to the internship, including lodging, meals and transportation to and from Geneva. The intern must be self-insured through a medical provider
