Scope of work:
Integrity is currently recruiting for a Senior Researcher to manage a study exploring informal pathways to justice for victims of ISIS. The position, anticipated to begin in January 2018, will be full-time for four months and would preferably be based in Iraq.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Senior Researcher will be responsible for managing the field team in Iraq, overseeing the research design and data collection, and producing the final report for the Client. The position requires strategic vision, research and analysis expertise, a deep contextual understanding of Iraq, and effective team management skills.
Terms of reference:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- The design of the research methodology and data collection tools;
- Management of the field team, composed of approximately six researchers throughout Iraq;
- Effective and constructive engagement with the Team Leader and Integrity to ensure that the final report meets client expectations
- The analysis and drafting of the final report, in coordination with the Team Leader;
- Programme strategy and evolution, in close coordination with the Team Leader and Programme Director.
Education and experience:
The candidate will have:
- A Masters’ degree or higher in International Development, Conflict Studies, International Relations or equivalent;
- At least 8 years of relevant experience;
- At least 3 years of working experience in Iraq;
- Knowledge of, and experience with HMG procedures and regulations (desirable).
Competencies and Languages:
The candidate will have:
- Excellent field team management skills;
- Fluency in Arabic and Kurdish (desirable);
- Excellent English language verbal and written communication;
- An aptitude for constructive engagement, compromise and listening;
- Stakeholder management skills;
- The ability to build strong and trusting working relationships;
- Evident leadership qualities;
- Organisational skills;
- Concise and effective decision-making approaches.
