The IBE seeks to recruit an Archivist to help manage the digitization of its historical materials. The IBE Historical Archive 1925-1969 and the Textbook Collection, are invaluable and unique research resources which are constantly in demand by education historians and researchers from all over the world. The IBE intends to create a digital version of these materials in order to make them accessible globally.
The incumbent, under the overall authority of the IBE Director, and direct supervision of Ms Ruth Creamer, Head of the IBE Documentation Centre, will be responsible for:
• Day-to-day management of the IBE digitisation projects
• Ensuring that correct international archiving standards are adhered to
• Assisting in the design of and supervision of the workflow, ensuring smooth processes and materials preparations
• Ensuring good collaboration with external service providers
• Performing quality control of work carried out by external service providers
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
• Qualified Archivist
WORK EXPERIENCE
• At least two years demonstrated experience in digitisation project work
• Experience of working with delicate and historical materials
• Experience of working and coordinating with external service providers
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Excellent communication, IT and team-working skills and excellent computer skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy over prolonged periods of time
• Capacity to work effectively in teams and in a multicultural working environment
LANGUAGES
• Excellent command of English and/or French, and good working knowledge of the other language; other working languages (particularly Arabic, Spanish, or Russian) would be an asset.
