Overview of the functions of the position
Under the overall delegated authority of Chief of Finance and Administrative Platform of the UNESCO Offices for Iraq and Jordan and the direct supervision of the Finance and Administrative Officer, the SC holder provides technical support on hardware and software systems application.
The SC holder will undertake the following responsibility:
Install application systems software and hardware according to specifications and assists in performing software distribution updates, scripting, testing and support;
Conduct general check-up of all system components, perform hardware troubleshooting, prepare and distribute user documentation and provide user support and training on commonly used applications software;
Maintain a close coordination with UNESCO HQ for Intranet, internet link and any other technical matters related to the Offices, operate PC/LAN resources, including software on server and workstations;
Maintain documentation of networks connection and communication; maintain any telephone or/and video conference equipment and assist staff in conducting conferenced; maintain office servers in terms of security, proxy, filing system and all related activities;
Provide assistance to the staff responsible for managing the offices’ web sites, update and maintain the offices’ shared folders and databases networks, and perform periodic system backup and assist staff to carry out backup according to guidelines;
Assess needs for upgrade and assist in selection and purchasing of necessary equipment and tools as well as performing those upgrades when applicable;
Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Required qualifications
Education
· Satisfactory completion of upper secondary school and completion of computer courses from recognized institution.
Work Experience
· 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology;
· Experience in administrative work, preferably with wide experience with an UN agency or other international organization;
Skills and competencies
· Excellent communication/organizational skills, attention to details.
· Ability to operate personal computers, corporate and commercial software applications and databases such as Microsoft Office, SQL, internet, etc.
· Ability to learn quickly corporate software applications is a definite advantage.
· Solid functional competencies in establishing and maintaining contracts incl. monitoring and performance evaluation;
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as ability to set priorities, to interpret rules and administrative guidelines, to analyze and evaluate routine and non-routine issues;
· Ability to establish good working relationships with senior management and people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds;
· Experience in working in a multi-skilled and multi-cultural teams;
· Knowledge-sharing capabilities; exercise of sound judgment and initiative; tact, high standards of integrity, discretion and confidentiality are essential.
Languages
· Excellent/very good knowledge and drafting skills in English and Arabic;
Desired qualifications
Education
· Preferably University degree in Computer Science and computer literacy and ability to effectively use standard office software, tools and technologies;
· Specialized courses on matters related to LAN/WAN networking technology.
Languages
· Fair knowledge in one of another UN official language (French) may be an asset.

Benefits and entitlements
The candidate shall be offered a Service Contract with a net salary of USD 22,939 per annum (social security included).
The initial contract is for a probationary period of 3 months renewable subject to satisfactory service; and contingent on the availability of funding;
