OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION Background
Assisting Jordan in the implementation of the 2005 Convention and strengthening the contribution of culture to sustainable development is one of the UNESCO Amman Office’s main goals. In line with UNESCO Amman Office priorities and UNESCO Major Programme for Culture, the project “Empowering Women and Increasing Resilience in the Jordan Valley” will support rural women with income generating opportunities, and will foster the role of culture in the sustainable development of Jordan.

Duties and requirements
Under the overall authority of the Head of UNESCO Amman Office/ UNESCO Representative in Jordan, and the direct supervision of the Project Officer, the incumbent will be responsible to assist in the implementation of the project “Empowering Women and Increasing Resilience in the Jordan Valley”. The incumbent will be based in Amman and will undertake field visits to Ghor el Safi as needed. The incumbent will assist the Project Officer in the implementation of the project by:
Providing technical, administrative and logistic support in the implementation of the project activities, including:
a. Liaising with project beneficiaries and project partners;
b. Organizing training activities and events;
c. Drafting web articles and press releases;
d. Drafting briefs and reports;
e. Organizing missions (including the preparation of travel documents);
f. Drafting official correspondence;
g. Preparing minutes;
h. Assisting in the preparation of contracts and other administrative documents;
i. Payment processing;
j. Translating from Arabic to English and vice-versa. 2. Undertaking missions to the field, as required;

  1. Providing assistance as needed by the Project Officer for overall programme implementation;
  2. Carrying out any other duties requested by the Head of Office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree is required in the field of management and administration, political science, social science and related subjects.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience. Experience in the field of project administrative support will be considered an asset.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency in computer office applications;
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work in a team and within a multi-cultural environment
  • Organized and flexible.

LANGUAGES

  • Fluency in English and Arabic.

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS

The candidate shall be offered a Service Contract with a net salary of approximately JOD 13,644 per annum. The initial contract is for a probationary period of 3 months renewable subject to satisfactory service; and contingent on the availability of funding;
Other benefits include 2.5 days per month annual leave;
