Scope of work

The Content Manager (CM) will focus most of their time supporting the delivery of the UK Prosperity Fund Evaluation & Learning contract (currently due to run until March 2022). The CM may also be expected to contribute flexibly across Integrity’s different services and directorates and should be attracted to a fast-paced working environment. The CM is based in London, with some travel, and reports to a Senior Services Manager.

Integrity is part of a consortium delivering the evaluation and learning services to the Prosperity Fund. The UK Prosperity Fund (PF) is a £1.2 billion facility aimed at the promotion of economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries. The CM supports the delivery of the E&L Learning Strategy and Plan and Communications Strategy and Plan. The Evaluation & Learning (E&L) team will produce a substantial number of evaluation reports, and a diverse range of associated knowledge products which may include full reports, briefs, info-graphics, presentations, videos, email newsletters, webinars, etc. The Content Manager is responsible for oversight of the content publishing function within the E&L team liaising with authors and copy editors. The Content Manager also maintains and curated content for the projects’ web-based knowledge management platform, focused on audience interests and needs.

The CM reports to the Knowledge Management & Communications Lead and will also support that person in liaising with a wide range of PF stakeholders (e.g. programme managers, based in the UK and overseas), in order to understand their learning needs. The Content Manager works alongside a Digital Communities Manager, who manages the E&L web portal, related technologies and communities of interest.

Terms of Reference

UK Prosperity Fund Evaluation & Learning: Content Manager (estimated 90%)

Publishing oversight – formal deliverables (10%)

· Maintaining the project content development pipeline and encouraging uptake and good practice and deadline management.

· Creating and maintaining style guide, templates, core text, author checklist and video guides to enable E&L team members to use all tools at their disposal.

· Overseeing Quality Assurance process scheduling for all formal deliverables with authors, senior team members and copyeditors.

· Quality assuring editing done by external copyeditors, addressing and working with authors to resolve issues.

· Troubleshooting formatting and layout issues before submission to the client.

Dissemination of learning from evaluations (10%)

· Co-develop dissemination strategy for evaluative findings and recommendations to encourage uptake of findings.

· Publishing evaluation products on the web-based knowledge management and learning platform (PFLearning) and circulating in the What’s on PFLearning newsletter.

Supporting the development of additional content (10%)

· Maintaining content pipeline for the web-based knowledge management and learning platform (PFLearning) – identifying and creating opportunities for the development of content items for PFLearning. For example, harnessing content coming out of PF events, commissioning blogs from E&L or PF colleagues.

· Creating, commissioning and editing rich content, for example videos and voiceover presentations, for PFLearning.

· Drafting and collating content packs for events such as E&L training days, PF away days.

Newsletter development, dissemination and reporting (15%)

· Drafting and disseminating What’s on PFLearning newsletter – 2 issues per month.

· Circulating newsletter internally and on PFLearning to maximise visibility and engagement.

· Reporting on newsletter performance using back-end analytics on PFLearning, coordinating with Digital Communities Manager to ensure reporting is coordinated with wider stats for the platform.

Curating and maintaining PFLearning (30%)

· Maintaining homepage of PFLearning, ensuring a regular cycle of new and key content items from across the platform.

· Maintaining userbase of active users, onboarding new team members and troubleshooting user access or navigation issues.

· Creating and nurturing PFLearning peer spaces, e.g. Gender Champions and Communications Network peer spaces.

· Working with PF counterparts to develop strategy and run online discussions for key communities of interest, e.g. launch of and early discussions within Communications Network and Primary Purpose Peer Space.

· Working with Digital Communities Manager to enhance and evolve the information architecture of PFLearning to support user access and navigation, for example by auditing and gardening the use of labels and categories to best present and signpost between content.

Organising, supporting and leading learning events (15%)

· Working with wider learning-focused colleagues and PF counterparts on the preparation for, delivery of and follow-up to learning events.

· Developing, editing, publishing and disseminating post-event content on PFLearning and via What’s on PFLearning.

· Gathering feedback from communities of interest to inform learning agenda and format to suit needs and interest of target audience.

Stakeholder engagement (10%)

· Developing and maintaining relationships with key PF stakeholders, such as policy leads, comms team and programme team members, feeding back intelligence and learning need insights to E&L team where appropriate.

· Maintaining relationships with key colleagues across the E&L team, particularly with regard to evaluators who undergo the QA process numerous times per cycle.

· Maintaining relationships with copyeditors to support the delivery of consistently high-quality deliverables.

· Commissioning work from external graphic designer on behalf of E&L team members.

Wider Integrity work (estimated 10% of total time)

· Improve information capture, institutional memory and learning from Integrity’s projects.

· To be further agreed with your line manager, e.g. may include support to project management of the Prosperity Fund Evaluation & Learning contract.

· 2% of the Senior Manager’s time will be reserved for professional development and learning activities.

Terms of reference may be refined with your line manager from time to time.

Education and Experience

· Excellent technical writing / editing skills, and 8+ years’ experience in journalism, communications, website content development, or a comparable role.

· Experience in drafting content in a range of different formats, and for different audiences.

· Website management or digital publishing skills linked to the delivery of engaging content.

· Curiosity and drive to understand the diverse learning needs and opportunities of different stakeholders.

· Experience of liaison with content users and analysis of use metrics to understand their needs and preferences and adapt content / formats in response to feedback.

· Ideally have knowledge of international development issues including evaluation and learning terminology.

· Confidence to engage at a senior level with PF stakeholders in UK and HMG country offices.

· Team player, with excellent organizational, training design and delivery, time management, and communication skills in English, both written and oral.

Preferable:

· Experience developing learning-focused knowledge management platforms and/or communities of practice.

· Experience working with international stakeholders.
