Scope of work
The Senior GIS and Data Analyst will be one of the Key Personnel, and the primary Geographic Information System (GIS) expert supporting USAID and implementing partners through the MELS Activity in South Sudan. This position will require strong data literacy, written and oral communication skills, and high analytical thinking to take large data sets and translate them into actionable information for various internal and external stakeholders. S/he must provide recommendations on mapping products to support Mission decision-making as well as work with staff across the organization, including senior management and working-level staff to provide tailored recommendations and develop maps that can flexibly address data needs in a timely manner.
Project background – USAID/South Sudan MELS activity
The purpose of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Support (MELS) activity is to provide USAID/South Sudan with flexible, demand-driven, technical services that augment the Mission’s ability to achieve strong performance management of its portfolio through effective monitoring and evaluation. MELS will also serve as a tool to provide the Mission’s GIS and mapping capability to inform decision-making; enhance collaborative learning and adaptation across the Mission; and provide general support for Mission planning, third party monitoring, evaluation, reporting, research, assessments, and special studies.
Your experience and expertise
- At least 7 years of experience in managing GIS databases with advanced working knowledge of GIS.
- A bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, geography, planning, or engineering and a certification in GIS.
