OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
- Background
The NET-MED Youth Project is a three-year project which aims to contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for young women and men to develop their competencies, exercise their rights and meaningfully engage as active citizens, particularly in decision-making relating to political, social, economic, education and cultural policy and planning processes. The networking capacities of youth organizations in the concerned countries will be strengthened, particularly by increasing their interaction with the media and their use of ICT based platforms and by enhancing their economic inclusion and access to the labor market.
This project is being implemented by UNESCO in Jordan and nine others countries across the Western and Eastern Basins of the Mediterranean with funding from the European Union.
The project is an innovative intersectoral response aimed at improving the access and effective participation of youth in developing and implementing national strategies and policies affecting them. It will be coordinated by UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector in close cooperation with UNESCO’s Sectors for Communication & Information and Education, in close contact with European Union delegations in the participating countries.
II. Duties and requirements
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Amman and the Associate Project Officer of the project “Networks of Mediterranean countries youth, Jordan”, the candidate shall perform the following duties:
• Assist the Team in the Ministry of Planning and international cooperation; polices and strategies department head.
• Collecting detailed information on demographic data, labour market indicators, national accounts data, industry data on output and employment.
• Analysis of international data may be required to provide insights on the worldwide picture.
• Participating in updating the previous database used in Skills forecasting model.Developing detailed labour market projection
• Assist in drafting policies related to the labour market
• Assist in the coordination with MoPIC on implementing sectorial studies.
• Assist in drafting the daily work of the department regarding the labour issues.
• Writing the technical reports related to the department work in the labour market field.
• Reporting to UNESCO Amman Office on the progress of the skills forecasting model implemented in cooperation with MoPIC.
• Carry out any other duties requested by Ministry of Planning and international cooperation; polices and strategies department head.
• The program assistant will be placed in MoPIC; Department of polices and strategies as the main duty station.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
• University degree in communication, information, or business field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• Two to four years of relevant professional experience in admin and program support for projects focused on technical and vocational education and training (TVET), skills development, transition from school to work and business creation strategies (design, implementation, evaluation).
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
• Good knowledge of project planning and management tools
• Good IT and database management skills
• Strong facilitation skills and communication skills;
• Proven ability to work in a multicultural environment
• Good team spirit
• Good analytical and organizational skills
LANGUAGES
• Excellent command and fluency of Arabic and English.

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS
The candidate shall be offered a Service Contract with a net salary of approximately 11,040 Jordan Dinars per annum. The initial contract, which is for 6 months, is subject of satisfactory service for a probationary period of 3 months, and contingent on the availability of funding.
Other benefits include 2.5 days annual leave per month.
