Background:

The UNESCO Myanmar Project Office covers day-to-day operations of projects in education, communication and information, as well as cultural and natural heritage. It operates under the administrative oversight of the UNESCO Regional Bureau in Bangkok, Thailand. The UNESCO Myanmar Project Office works closely with a diverse range of partners – national, sub-national and regional government counterparts, other UN agencies, international and bilateral development partners, local and international NGOs, civil society, academia and the media and implements projects through different modalities including but not limited to capacity building, coordination, technical assistance and advocacy and awareness raising.

An/A Intern/Volunteer is being recruited to assist Project Officers and Project Assistants on operational support to ensure smooth implementation of project activities of the office.

Main tasks and assignments:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, an/a Intern/volunteer will provide operational support to ensure smooth implementation of project activities of the office. Specific tasks include the following:

  1. Provide administrative and logistical support for the implementation of project events (workshops, trainings, seminars and meetings);

  2. Assist in consolidating relevant documents in accordance with the UNESCO rules and regulations in processing contractual arrangements and travel arrangements;

  3. Support the updating of inventory lists and identify items to be replaced, written-off and follow-up accordingly;

  4. Assist in management of project documents online and offline;

  5. Assist in other office functions such as preparing official correspondence and documents for implementation and management of activities;

  6. Provide informal English-Myanmar or Myanmar-English translation of correspondence with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders; and

  7. Contribute to the implementation of other administration and project support tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Academic qualifications:

· You have just completed your full-time university studies (bachelor's degree or equivalent) in business administration, finance or accounting at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment; OR

· You have recently graduated with a university degree within the last 12 months.

Other qualifications:

· Background and/or strong interest in business administration, management, or finance;

· Excellent written and spoken English and Myanmar language and proficiency in typing English and Myanmar language on computers;

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;

· Ability to work on multiple tasks independently and under pressure;

· Attention to details; and

· Ability to work collaboratively with other team members in a multi-cultural environment.
